Good energy management starts with reliable measurement data. Smart meters, for example via a P1 meter, can be read directly by a system such as Loxone. This gives a current picture of energy consumption within a building or installation. The data is then displayed clearly in one environment.
We look beyond simply displaying information. The real value lies in linking measuring and control. Technologies such as Modbus allow different components to communicate with each other. This makes visible what is happening and allows the installation to respond in a targeted way when needed.
In practice, energy management can help make better use of generated solar energy. When more energy is generated than is needed directly, a battery can be charged or the charging of electric vehicles can be matched to the available power. Dynamic energy tariffs can also be taken into account, so that consumption takes place as far as possible when electricity is cheaper.
Climate installations can also be part of energy management. Heat pumps, boilers, ventilation and sun shading can be better coordinated, so that the building stays comfortable without using unnecessary energy. Sun shading can be controlled automatically to keep heat outside and relieve the climate system. Manual operation always remains possible, for example via an app or control screen.
Lighting can also be included in the control, for example with DALI lighting or 24VDC solutions. Lighting is then switched efficiently based on use and need.
